Artist´s Statement

I am very fortunate to live my passion in my job. I cannot imagine not working with clay. There is no end to the directions it can take.

I love the rhythm and discipline of throwing functional ware, however the perfect shape holds no interest for me. I like my pots to have movement.

I´ve lately been moving towards more sculptural shapes, incorporating the "koru", a New Zealand icon, depicting fern fronds and symbolising new life and rebirth.

A person is the sum total of his/her experiences. For me, origins do not have the same impact as identity. I identify strongly with New Zealand and its place in the Pacific and aim to reflect this in my work.
